The Hundred Acre Wood as Milne and Shepard first made it, the real toys, the real Forest, and questions for every chapter
NEW YORK, Oct. 29, 2026, The complete Pooh has been published in one edition: Winnie-the-Pooh (1926) and The House at Pooh Corner (1928), with all 216 of E. H. Shepard's original illustrations standing exactly where he put them. Winnie-the-Pooh & The House at Pooh Corner, The Original Shepard-Illustrated Edition (Companion Classics), edited by Horace Harriott Jr., presents both books complete and unabridged, all twenty chapters, cross-checked against scans of the first editions, with Milne's own front matter complete, an introduction, a who's-who, five explainers, a short life of A. A. Milne, a note on the period, and discussion and read-aloud questions for every chapter.
Pooh here is Milne's bear and Shepard's bear: drawn in line, as he first appeared, from the real stuffed animals that still live today at the New York Public Library. Everything is here, in the order Milne published it: Edward Bear coming downstairs bump, bump, bump; the Heffalump trap; Piglet entirely surrounded by water; Eeyore's birthday; the Expotition to the North Pole; Tigger's arrival and unbouncing; the invention of Poohsticks; and the last chapter, in the Enchanted Place. Both of Shepard's famous endpaper maps are included.
The introduction tells the story behind the stories, Milne the playwright, the real Christopher Robin, the real toys, and the real Ashdown Forest. The five explainers cover the real places of the Forest; how Shepard drew from the real toys and the real woods; the hums and verses; Milne beyond Pooh; and what fame cost Christopher Robin, told gently and from his own memoirs. The questions are made for family reading and book clubs alike.
Alongside the book, the Winnie-the-Pooh Book Club Kit offers the edition's discussion material as a printable PDF, arranged as a three-meeting read-aloud schedule with a hosting guide, character voices, the hums sung or chanted, and jobs for the smallest listeners. The kit is available for $7 through the editor's Payhip store: https://payhip.com/b/yqBUw
