How free press release distribution works here
- You email your release to submit@freepressreleases.co.uk, with a picture if you have one. No account, no form, no word limit.
- A person reads it. We check that it is news from an identifiable organisation, not an advert.
- It goes live as a permanent page at its own address, showing the headline, text, picture and your contact details as you submitted them. A genuine release is usually live within the hour during UK working hours.
- Search engines are told. The address is sent to Bing, Copilot and ChatGPT search when it goes live, and it sits in a sitemap that Google reads.
What you get
- A permanent, indexed page with article markup, dated and citable. When we checked on 5 October, 86 of the first 100 release pages were already in Google's index, the newest crawled within one to three days.
- Visibility to AI assistants. In the three weeks to 5 October, ChatGPT, Claude and Meta AI fetched release pages here more than 400 times, and Google's AI Overview for one release cited the page as its first source.
- Open to everyone. Organisations anywhere can submit, in any country.
What you do not get
- Press coverage. A free page is not a newspaper pickup and nobody is promised one.
- Dofollow links. Links inside a release are nofollow, so it is not link building.
- A coverage report showing placements on named publications.
What we publish and what we do not
We publish genuine news releases from identifiable organisations: launches, appointments, results, surveys, events that have happened, partnerships. We do not publish invitations and event promotions, releases too short to be a story, medical, health-cure or financial-return claims, or gambling, adult, vaping and CBD content. See the submission guidelines.
Free or paid distribution?
Free distribution is the right start if you want a dated, indexed record of your announcement on the open web. If you want it on regional and national news sites, with a live link and a screenshot for every placement, that is paid distribution and a different service: read how paid distribution works and the difference between distribution, syndication and outreach. If you are weighing up services, see how to choose a free press release site.
