# What's Hiding in Britain's Fields? Free Toolkit Invites Farmers to Discover the Wildlife on Their Land

*Britain's farmland is full of life, but how much of it are we actually noticing? From insects tucked away in hedgerows to wildflowers growing along field margins, there's a whole world of biodiversity that can easily go unrecorded.*

With support from Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), Common Flora has developed a free Biodiversity Toolkit to help farmers and landowners discover, identify and record the wildlife living on their land.

Farmers know their land better than anyone, but finding the time and resources to monitor biodiversity isn't always easy. The Toolkit offers simple, practical ways to get started, without needing specialist knowledge or expensive equipment.

You can't protect what you don't know is there

From bees and butterflies to birds and wildflowers, understanding what's already living on farmland is an important first step towards protecting it.

The Toolkit helps farmers build a clearer picture of the biodiversity on their land, notice changes over time and identify opportunities to support healthier habitats.

Jane Acton from Common Flora explains:

*"We know that farmers care deeply about their land and the wildlife that lives on it, but finding the time to monitor biodiversity isn't always easy. We wanted to create something straightforward and practical that farmers can use themselves.*

*We're really keen to hear from farmers who give the Toolkit a go. Their feedback will help us make it as useful as possible. Ultimately, we want more people to discover what's living on their land and feel confident about supporting nature."*

Farmers invited to get involved

Common Flora is encouraging farmers and landowners across the UK to download the free Toolkit, try it on their land and share their feedback to help shape its future development.

Whether you're already doing lots to encourage wildlife or are simply curious about what's living in your fields, Common Flora would love you to get involved.
