MoneyCounter 2.0: a free Windows banknote counter for closing the till in 78 currencies
iMobile's free Windows tool MoneyCounter 2.0 counts cash by denomination, shows a live total, supports 78 currencies, and keeps an offline count history.
MoneyCounter 2.0 is a small Windows program for counting cash note by note. It is aimed at shop owners, club treasurers, event organisers with a cash box and anyone who regularly counts an envelope, a till or a safe. The basic edition is free with no time limit.
Whoever closes the till usually counts stack by stack and types subtotals into a calculator; one slip and the count starts again. MoneyCounter turns this around: you pick the currency, type only how many notes of each denomination you have and read the total on a large seven-segment display. The total is recalculated while you type, so a forgotten stack shows up at once.
The program knows the banknotes of 78 currencies, each with the notes actually in circulation, from the pound sterling, euro and US dollar to the yen, rupee and dirham. On first start the currency of the Windows region is preselected, which also makes it handy for travel cash or a mixed-currency cash box.
A click on "M+" saves the count to a history with the date, currency, a comment and the number of notes of each denomination, so it is easy to see later how a cash balance was made up, for example when handing over a club treasury or comparing shifts. Backup and restore are built into the File menu.
MoneyCounter keeps all counts in a local file in the Windows profile and works offline. The free edition needs no account; an internet connection is only used to activate Pro. The interface is available in 16 languages, and currency names appear in the chosen language.
Pricing and availability
MoneyCounter 2.0 runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11 (64-bit). The free edition has no time limit; it shows totals up to six digits and hides the smallest note of each currency. Pro costs USD 19 once, shows all notes, extends the display to ten digits and allows custom currencies and denominations. The installer comes straight from the developer's site with no third-party offers.
