Habit Hugging: The Workplace Trend Keeping Employees Stuck in the Past
New research from TalentLMS identifies a growing workplace trend called "habit hugging", the tendency to cling to familiar ways of working even when new tools and processes are introduced. The research found that 48% of employees trained to use AI don't consistently use it afterward, highlighting the challenge organizations face in turning training into lasting behavior change.
Based on a survey of 1,500 U.S. employees, the report, *Habit Hugging: When Old Habits Block New Ways of Working*, found:
- 65% say breaking an old work habit is harder than learning a new one.
- 42% still use tools or processes their managers think have been replaced.
- 73% mix old and new ways of working to get the job done.
TalentLMS experts are available to discuss the findings and what employers can do to help new workplace habits stick.
