Heading to Disney World for Halloween? Families could face nearly $5,000 in hotel costs, new study reveals
With Disney World's Halloween celebrations currently underway, a new study has unveiled the frightening true cost of a Halloween trip to Disney.
The research reveals that families could spend an average of almost $5,000 to stay on-site at Disney World for a seven-night trip over Halloween, which is more than accommodation costs in luxury destinations like Spain, Greece, and Italy.
Accommodation costs could reach up to almost $10,000 in certain resorts over Halloween.
Halloween is one of the most popular times of year for people to visit Disney World. With the park offering themed events, firework displays, and the iconic Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, it's an unmissable time of year to visit Disney World.
However, families are being warned that they could be in for a fright over rising accommodation costs.
Research by the vacation rental marketplace, FloridaRentals.com, examined data from Disney World's official site to determine how expensive it would be to stay on-site at Disney during Halloween.
The research examined how much it would cost for a family of four to stay at each hotel for seven nights from October 25th to November 1st, 2026.
According to the data, it would cost an average of $4,924 for a family of four to stay on-site at Disney for seven nights over Halloween.
The research also examined data from Booking.com to see how this figure compares with accommodation costs in several popular vacation destinations, including Spain, Greece, and Italy, for the same length of time as the Disney trip. According to the data, the average accommodation cost for a family of four to stay in Spain for seven nights is $1,710. This is 65% cheaper than staying at Disney's on-site accommodation for the same length of time. The research found that the average accommodation cost in Greece is $2,806, which is 43% cheaper than Disney's on-site accommodation. Similarly, families can enjoy a vacation in Italy for 23% less than a Disney trip, with accommodation in the country costing an average of around $3,768 for a seven-night stay.
Families booking a last-minute Halloween trip to Disney could pay up to $9,879.30 to stay at the park's luxury Beach Club Resort.
Meanwhile, the most affordable available accommodation type over Halloween is Disney's Coronado Springs Resort, which currently costs $2,159 for a seven-night stay.
To determine how Disney World accommodation costs differ between Halloween and other times of the year, the study also examined hotel prices for spring 2027.
The data reveals that the average cost for on-site Disney accommodation for a seven-night stay for a family of four is $4,064 during May 2027.
This shows that prices are 21% higher for a last-minute Halloween vacation compared to spring 2027 costs.
A spokesperson for FloridaRentals.com offered some tips on how families could save money on their next Disney trip:
"This study shows just how much families can end up spending on accommodation costs alone at Disney World, let alone ticket and flight expenses.
"Disney accommodation can be booked up incredibly quickly, so planning ahead will leave families with more accommodation types to choose from, which can help to keep costs down.
"The research reinforces the fact that there are only 11 different on-site accommodation types to choose from for a last-minute Halloween trip, compared to 26 different venues for a spring 2027 vacation.
"Many of Disney's budget-friendly accommodation options are unavailable for Halloween, such as the park's All-Star Sports and All-Star Music Resorts.
"As shown by this data, Disney accommodation can vary in price by as much as $7,720, so it's really important that people choose the accommodation type that fits in with their individual budget.
"The study also shows that accommodation prices are 21% higher for last-minute Halloween bookings compared to a spring 2027 trip, which shows how visiting the park during major seasonal events can quickly inflate costs.
"For families wanting to budget as much as possible, booking off-site accommodation can be a quick way to save hundreds on hotel expenses. Packing meals or snacks from home can be another great way to save on dining costs around the park."

Methodology:
- The research examined data from Disney World's official site to determine how much it would cost a family of four to stay at each available Disney accommodation type for seven nights in both May 2027 and October 2026.
- This data was then used to rank each accommodation type from the most expensive to the most affordable.
- The study also examined data from Booking.com to compare the accommodation costs in several vacation destinations. These included Spain, Greece, and Italy.
- To do this, the research examined the cost of the top 10 hotels featured on Booking.com's 'Top Reviewed' ranking for each location.
- The research then used this information to calculate an average hotel cost for a family of four for a seven-night stay in each luxury location.
- This figure was then compared against the average Disney World accommodation cost to reveal the cost difference.
