Domain Farm Ltd has launched British Fuel Prices, a site publishing forecourt fuel prices across Britain.

The site is built on the statutory open data scheme under which fuel retailers publish their prices. It covers every participating forecourt, with prices that have gone stale excluded rather than shown as current, and the underlying data available to download in full.

Two decisions shape the site. The first is excluding stale prices: a price that has not been refreshed is not a price, and showing it as one is how fuel comparison tools lose their usefulness. The second is publishing the data rather than only the interface, so that anyone checking a figure can see where it came from.

Beyond the prices themselves, the site tracks how quickly retailers pass on wholesale falls compared with wholesale rises, produces brand comparisons, and reports local price gaps between neighbouring forecourts.

British Fuel Prices is free to use at britishfuelprices.co.uk.
