BEAUJOLAIS DAY: BOOM BATTLE BAR CARDIFF IS THE NEW HOT BEAUJOLAIS HOT SPOT

For decades, Swansea has been the undisputed Welsh home of Beaujolais Day.

The city's love affair with the French wine celebration dates back to the 1960s, with its popularity commonly traced to former Wales rugby captain Clem Thomas, then owner of Swansea's famous No Sign Wine Bar, who helped bring the Beaujolais tradition back to South Wales.

Since then, it has become one of the biggest dates in Swansea's social calendar. Celebrations have previously been estimated to bring an incredible £5 million into Swansea's local economy.

This year, the tide's changing. Rumour has it Cardiff is dominating the Beaujolais social scene in 2026, and BOOM BATTLE BAR is the place to be.

This November 19th, the iconic Cardiff venue is transforming Beaujolais Day into an all day-and-night celebration, combining the glamour of the South of France with the late-night party the Welsh are notorious for. For Beaujolais Day 2026, BOOM BATTLE BAR Cardiff is going bigger than ever, hosting three Beaujolais brunch sittings at 4pm, 6pm and 8pm.

Each 90-minute sitting will feature bottomless drinks, including Beaujolais, of course, a French-inspired feast and live entertainment, bringing a taste of the South of France to the Welsh capital. But unlike the traditional Beaujolais lunch, BOOM isn't calling it a day when the final glass is poured. Following the brunch sittings, the venue will transform into The Big BOOM Beaujolais After Party, with live entertainment and DJs keeping the celebrations going till 4am.

With brunch, Beaujolais and a full-scale afterparty all under one roof, BOOM is making its bid to put Cardiff firmly on the Beaujolais Day map in 2026. Swansea might have the history, but Cardiff is making a serious play for the future of Beaujolais Day.

Ana Hosty, newly appointed Events and Partnerships Manager at BOOM, is expecting a busy day,

"Beaujolais Day is iconic across Wales, but this year, we're making a serious case for Cardiff being the place to be. With a huge range of bottomless drinks, including Beaujolais itself and Beaujolais-inspired cocktails, live entertainment and a party going right through until 4am, we're ready to take over Thursday and make it one to remember.

We've even curated a special French-inspired menu for the occasion, so there'll be no need to rely on Chippy Lane at the end of the night, although we can't promise you won't still end up there!"

Those lucky enough to book their space have been told to come hungry, as BOOM have specially curated a French-inspired feast featuring dishes like steak baguettes with frites, French onion tarts and indulgent chocolate mousse, alongside plenty more deliciousness to fuel the festivities.

Of course, it wouldn't be Beaujolais Day without the outfits. BOOM is even taking on Swansea's famous love of dressing up, with this year's dress code declaring: "Go Boujee for Beaujolais!" Think main character energy. Think overdressed. Think "my ex is absolutely sliding into my DMs after this Insta pic drops." If there's ever been an excuse to go all out, this is it.

South of France glamour meets Cardiff After Dark.

If you're looking for something other than brunch, BOOM is a games venue so hosts an epic selection like Axe Throwing, American Pool, Electric Darts, Beer/Prosecco Pong, Shuffleboard and more.

The question is: could 2026 finally be the year Cardiff steals Swansea's Beaujolais crown?
