New book, out November 11, presents recovery as an architecture of attention, where you stand determines what you see.
VIRGINIA, R. W. Dixon, author and founder of Reflection Recovery, announces the November 11, 2026 publication of Reflection: A Transformative Approach to Recovery Using Spatial Disambiguation.
Reflection offers a practical method built on three pillars, Knowledge, Acceptance, and Humility. Knowledge is cataloging the objective truth of one's history. Acceptance is the expanded, stable capacity to hold that history without flinching, running, or falling into self-loathing. Humility is the capacity for knowledge in the future-tense self: the willingness to let what has been cataloged and held reshape who one is becoming, rather than defending who one has been.
At the center of the method is spatial disambiguation: the practice of noticing where attention stands in relation to experience, the space between a trigger and a reaction, and learning to stand in a place from which recovery is possible.
"Nobody handed me the book I needed," Dixon says. "So I wrote the method I wished someone had given me: not a fight with your own brain, but a way to stand somewhere steadier and see clearly from there."
Dixon is the founder of Reflection Recovery, a recovery community built around a public community signature wall, where people stand with others counting their days. The book's companion tools, a calculator and the community wall, are live at reflectionrecovery.org/magicwall. A free excerpt, the complete Prologue and Introduction, is available at reflectionrecovery.org/freebie.
Reflection is available for pre-order now. Copies will be delivered in ePub on November 11, 2026, with the paperback following shortly after. Pre-order: a.co/d/04MdsngP. Book details: reflectionrecovery.org/book.
