A leak specialist can find happiness in his work even after being covered in sewage while working on drains and toilets. Water appearing on a ceiling does not establish that the visible wet spot is the source of a leak. Symptoms, pipes and floor conditions are checked, and inspection openings or limited areas may be opened if needed to narrow down the cause. Before removing all the tiles, the feasibility of non-destructive repair is assessed. Waterproofing that involves removing the existing finish is considered where major floor defects are present. After work on the cause, changes in leakage and drying conditions are checked to determine the necessary restoration of ceilings, walls and wallpaper.

Insurance and payment depend on the actual terms

The applicable scope of insurance is explained according to the policy and the circumstances of the incident; insurance payments or full reimbursement are not guaranteed in every case. The post-completion payment arrangement, under which construction charges are paid after the result has been checked, is explained according to the type of work and the contract terms. Equipment inspection and assessment-report charges are explained in advance, separately from construction charges. The scope of aftercare is also checked against the conditions of the particular job.
