Save The Vulan - Preserve Our Heritage
Written by Tom Williamson

The Avro Vulcan XH558 is the only surviving example of Britain?s Cold War V-Bomber fleet
that is capable of being returned to flight. The Vulcan to the Sky project is a
registered charity whose aim is to engage in this objective. Our company, Vin de Terre,
has taken on the mission to raise £350,000 within four weeks to help bring the Vulcan to
the stage of Roll Out ? where the plane can take to the runway.

But why restore the Vulcan? The Vulcan is an important part of British history gaining
its deserved recognition after a dangerous mission to the Falkland Islands. Although
originally designed to carry nuclear bombs in the Cold War, the Vulcan was modified to
carry conventional bombs when the need for nuclear warheads was less important. However
with the emergence of the new genre of aircraft the Vulcan bomber soon lost its
uniqueness and simply became ?just another plane??but it was in the Falklands War that
the Vulcan showed its true greatness. Flying over 4000 miles beyond its range the bomber
managed to neutralise a small but integral target needed by the Argentineans. This
dangerous mission which, should have been aborted due to numerous problems; for example a
shortage of fuel, helped to bring about victory for the British.

The Vulcan to the Sky project was promoting itself at the RAF Waddington air show on the
2nd July 2006, where its aims were on display to a number of aeroplane enthusiasts, Vin
de Terre?s managing director being one of these people was at the show, and being an ex
serviceman he still has a passionate interest in planes. And saw the importance of
helping this project.

Vin de Terre specialises in personalised wine labelling, where unique labels are produced
as per the clients request. A distinctive label has been created for the Vulcan Project
and our aim is to promote that availability of these labelled bottles. The bottles will
be sold at £10 and all profits made will go to the project.

The personalised wine label unique to the Vulcan to the Sky will enable the customer to
have a role in the restoration as well a memento of the Vulcan itself. Customers will be
able to purchase the labelled bottles directly from us via our website
www.savethevulcan.co.uk or by getting directly in contact with us on 01775 640788.

Please get in contact if you require any other information.
