A Gold Coast boutique winery has the oldest Port Vats in Australia. They were made in France circa 1867 & imported by the Thumm Wine Company that itself has a 300 hundred year history in wine.
They began their Australian life in The Barossa Valley S.A then were transported to their new home on the Gold Coast some 8 years ago.
The 5000 litre Vats currently hold 30,000 litres of Port that is aged then bottled & sold exclusively through its Cellar Door & restaurant outlet on the Thumm Estate.
“Due to the Vats continuous use over the centuries it allows the Port to develop an incredible taste & aroma. It is unbelievable that such a fine products is blended & aged right here on the coast”, says Nick Fry - the current owner of Thumms.
Wine enthusiasts should take a run to Upper Coomera to try this once in a lifetime drop.
