TVtrip, the first website to enable hotel searches using independent, professionally-filmed online videos, has launched its UK version allowing travellers to find their ideal accommodation among 1500 hotels in 50 European destinations.
London, 30 July 2007 – Who has never been disappointed when booking a hotel on the Internet? The room seems smaller than in the photos, the surroundings aren’t quite you’d expected, and if only you had seen the gym before! For the first time in online tourism history, UK travellers can now visit their hotel online before booking, by watching independent, professionally-filmed videos on www.tvtrip.co.uk. It’s almost as if they were already there. The UK website’s content is specifically adapted in order to better serve the specific needs of British travellers, with a choice of hotels in all key European cities, pricing in sterling pounds and direct links to online reservation partners such as Expedia.co.uk, Booking and Venere. One month after its official launch, TVtrip already covers 11 major European cities including Paris, Brussels, Berlin, Barcelona, Madrid, Rome, Amsterdam and Venice. “By end of the year, TVtrip.co.uk will offer the British holidaymakers an impressive library of 1500 videos, in 50 European destinations”, said Marc Ruff, CEO of TVtrip. Professional films and your own video-clip Tvtrip recruited professional filming teams in each city to produce short and informative video clips. These films – financed by Tvtrip to guarantee their objectivity - show the various categories of rooms, the facilities (meeting room, gym spa…) as well as the area surrounding the hotel. As TVTrip’s activity builds up, the online video hotel guide is also building a unique on-line travel community. Travellers will be able to share their opinions on their accommodation and to upload their own video clips of the hotel on the site. As a result, hotels will also gain a valuable insight on their clientele. £2.5 million funding and high-profile advisory board Following TVTrip’s launch last May, the www.tvtrip.co.uk site is the fifth local version of the online hotel video guide. Last month, TVTrip announced a £2.5 million funding round and added two ,high profile members to its advisory board - Erik Blachford, CEO at TerraPass Inc. and former CEO of Expedia Inc. and Thierry Antinori, Executive Vice-President, marketing & sales of Lufthansa. “Tvtrip.com’s aim is to become the online reference of choice for the travel industry by allowing travellers to view their accommodation online before making their purchase”, explains Marc Ruff. “We are showcasing how video can facilitate consumer choice”. - end – About Tvtrip.com Launched by four former senior managers from Expedia Europe, Tvtrip.com is the first website to enable hotel searches using online videos. By the end of 2007, the site will have 1500 videos showing the rooms and services of hotels in the top 50 European destinations. Tvtrip.com is an impartial service which includes an area for the comments and evaluations of visitors to the site. It offers the possibility to book the hotels through partnerships with the online travel agencies Expedia, Booking and Venere, as well as directly on the hotel’s websites.
