P&O Ventura, the biggest cruise ship being built for the UK market, has completed her official sea trials successfully. The trials, over a two week period, included thorough testing of the Venturas navigation system and propulsion motors. Her maximum cruising speed has been confirmed at 22.9 knots. P&O Venturas launch is scheduled to take place in April 2008 in Southampton and these sea trials confirm that she is well into the final stages of completion at the Fincantieri shipyard in Venice and will soon be sailing into British waters. Over 3,000 workers have worked on her construction since her keel was layed in August 2006, and the remaining workforce are there to create the contemorary and state of the art interior for 2008 cruise holidays. |
