London to Kent by Train – Visit Kent’s New Campaign

Visit Kent launches new micro site to encourage us to leave our cars behind and visit Kent by train.

The beautiful English county of Kent is only one hour from London by train and makes the perfect get away for a family holiday, weekend break or day trip.

So how should we be choosing to travel to this idyllic destination?

Well Visit Kent has the answer with their new campaign and website promoting travelling to Kent from London by train. Visit Kent by Train aims to encourage more visitors to come and see this lovely county and enjoy its many attractions, while letting the train very much take the strain.

With rising fuel prices (oil prices have increased 91% over the last 12 months) and congested roads many of people will admit that the time they spend in the car is rarely a pleasure. So when it comes to leisure time it makes sense to ditch the car and take the train. After all time off should be enjoyable and relaxing not stressful and expensive.

This year record numbers of Europeans as well as UK residents are expected to favour holidays based in the UK. This has been primarily motivated by fears over the ‘credit crunch’ and a strong Euro against the Pound.

Lastminute.com UK managing director John Bevan recently said: “The UK’s popularity this summer is amazing. The UK appears to be the place to be for all of Europe’s nationalities.

“Traditionally an expensive destination for European tourists, the UK’s in-resort price competitiveness has improved dramatically due to the fall of the Pound against the Euro.

“This has played a major part in the UK’s increased popularity amongst European tourists.”

However, it’s not only the financial incentives that make travelling by train while on holiday so attractive there are environmental benefits too. Public transport has long been known as a greener option and travelling by train is a fast and relatively carbon-friendly way to travel. In addition, since stations are normally situated in central locations they make it very easy to get around.

The visit Kent by train micro site is packed with useful information on how to plan your train journey to Kent and what to do and see when you get there. In addition there is also the opportunity to win a short break for two in Kent so give it a visit today.
