Kyoto Silk Co., Ltd.receives the “Appealing Japanese Souvenir Award” for 3 consecutive years. Sakyo-ku, Kyoto,March,10,2008 -- The award is presented annually by Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport as part of its initiative to encourage sightseeing in Japan. Kyoto Silk’s “I Love Sushi T-shirt” has received the Silver Prize this year. Japanese souvenirs related to sushi are highly sought by foreigners visiting Japan or for Japanese people visiting overseas countries because it is the food item that best represents all Japanese dishes. Last year Kyoto Silk won the coveted Golden Prize for their “Realistic Sushi Key Chain,” and the year before that they walked away with the Golden Prize again for their “Sushi Candle Souvenir Set.” CEO Kazumasa Kimura of Kyoto Silk Co., Ltd. reflected on his company’s continued success. ”Although we hadn’t been able to receive the Golden Prize for 3 consecutive years, we have had our sushi items enter the competition every year and have been joked about as being a Sushi Goods Producer by our friends. That also sounds to be a compliment for us. One of the reasons for these items featuring sushi getting so popular is because sushi is trendy in western countries. Souvenirs from Japan featuring sushi are becoming popular since they are funny and unique." Kyoto Silk aims to establish a full lineup of sushi dish souvenirs, and will focus on developing Japanese souvenirs that would be appreciated by foreigners visiting Japan for the following years as well. http://www.japanesegift.jp/store.htm (Kyoto Silk Co., Ltd.
