Kilrush, County Clare, 15th November 2007 – A tourism brochure relating to Kilrush has received the top Regional Award in the '2007 International Best Brochure Awards' in Chicago, Illinois. Glance Promotions Ltd., Annacotty, Limerick, who are contracted by Kilrush Town Council to distribute the brochure throughout key locations in the Shannon Region, entered the brochure into the annual International Association of Professional Brochure Distributors (IAPBD) competition. From a possible field of over 19,000 brochures, representing the collective client base of the Association membership, nominees were narrowed down to a list of just 63. These nominated brochures, which included the re-designed 'Welcome to Kilrush' brochure, were then evaluated through competitive comparisons using specific criteria such as headline quality, construction, content and overall appeal. The judging panel consisted of industry professionals representing brochure distribution and display companies from across the U.S., Canada, Europe and South Africa. Reacting to the competition win, Cllr. Tom Clyne, Mayor of Kilrush stated, "Winning this award is a another significant achievement for Kilrush in its efforts to promote the town as a unique tourist destination." "The competition success would not have been possible without the local attractions and tourist providers who contributed and supported the publication of the brochure. Kilrush Town Council looks forward to receiving their valuable input again in future promotional partnership projects", added the Mayor. For example, dolphin watching in the Shannon Estuary, the Scattery Island experience and the Vandeleur Walled Gardens remain some of the most popular attractions in the county and wider region."
