Discovery Initiatives sponsors annual Galapagos Day at the Royal Geographical Society

Discovery Initiatives is once again sponsoring the annual Galapagos Day held on the Wednesday 24 September at 6.00pm Royal Geographic Society.

An evening with Ben Fogle, TV presenter and Graham Watkins, Executive Director of the Charles Darwin Foundation, talking about the beauty and diversity of this captivating group of islands, but also the long term conversation challenges faced by this double World Heritage Site. All money raised from the evening is in aid of the Galapagos Conservation Trust.

The amazing diversity of life on the Galapagos Islands is largely due to a phenomenon known as the Humboldt Current. Ocean currents are caused and affected by many different factors, including the gravitational pull of the moon, the earth's rotation, underwater geography, salinity, wind and water temperature. These currents are very important to life on land, as they can affect climate, shipping, fishing and life such as birds or other species that live off of marine animals and fish.

Visitors are invited to meet the team to discuss their own travel adventures and help support the Galapagos.
