Discovery Initiatives announces two new tours to the volcanoes of Galapagos and the Great Mountain Gorilla Gathering in Uganda. Discovery Initiatives (http://www.discoveryinitiatives.co.uk) has announced the launch of two new tours to Galapagos and Uganda.
Discovery Initiatives’ new Galapagos Volcanology and Ecology tour (http://www.discoveryinitiatives.co.uk/discover/trip/Galapagos_Islands/Galapagos_Volcanology-and-Ecology_island_tour) provides a unique opportunity to spend time on the largest and most volcanically active of the Galapagos Islands, Isabela, with an expert geological guide. The includes 7 nights on a 13 berth sailing yacht in the Galapagos and then 3 nights on Isabela. Activities include trekking on horseback, visiting the second largest caldera in the world with active volcanic sites and fumeroles, seeing wild tortoises and visiting the ex penal colony. This 14 day tour and cruise departs on the 27th April with prices from £4225 per person from UK.

Discovery Initiatives has brought together a world class team of experts on Mountain Gorillas (Ian Redmond OBE), primates (Dr Julia Lloyd), wildlife photography (Heather Angel), conservation & tourism (Julian Matthews & Praveen Momon) and wildlife art (Jason Morgan) together with Ugandan host experts, and have booked two exclusive lodges for 5 nights in the richest rainforest habitat in Africa, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Reserve.
Combining Gorilla treks, workshops, lectures and community visits, the Great Gathering aims to explore this stunning park and its rich biodiversity as well as concentrate on the future of primate conservation, with an approach that is both ‘hands on’ and interactive. Discovery Initiatives’ also aim to raise $10,000 for conservation efforts. The tour is limited to 24 people and departs on the 4th October 2008. The cost is from £4295 per person from the UK and includes and includes two gorilla treks each.
