Discovery Initiatives announces the launch of new wildlife and cultural tours to Mexico, Galapagos, Kenya, India and Zimbabwe. Discovery Initiatives (http://www.discoveryinitiatives.co.uk) has announced the launch of several new wildlife and cultural tours across the world, including Mexico, Galapagos, Kenya, India and Zimbabwe.
The ‘Ultimate Whale Shark Encounter’ in Mexico, in June 2008, is a totally unique chance to swim with huge whale sharks off Mexico’s Yucutan Peninsula. In keeping with Discovery Initiatives’ ethos, each tour helps fund a research project run by Pronatura, a local wildlife NGO specifically working on long-term conservation of Whale shark populations. The Hwange Lion Study Tour in Zimbabwe is a collaboration with the WildCru research team. This unique and exciting group trip offers visitors privileged access into the first and most extensive lion research study in Hwange National Park, home to a quarter of Zimbabwe’s lions. Furthermore, it aims to contribute towards the ongoing study of the Hwange Lion Research Project. Discovery Initiatives has also launched a new tour to Ecuador, enabling clients to live amongst the Huaorani People of the Amazon. A new trip in Kenya, enables visitors to be a ‘Warrior for a Week’. This trip aims to give an authentic and interactive experience of living with the Maasai people and its culture. Visitors will be able to gain an in depth experience in wildlife tracking, in learning survival skills, learning how to use bow, arrows, pangas and spears, building a bush camp and tending goats and cattle. Discovery Initiatives final new trip is an expert led tour in India entitled, ‘In search of Shere Khan’. Led by the wildlife specialist Stephen Mills, this tour gives a unique insight into the life of the Royal Bengal Tiger and the threat it now faces. The tour will include guided vehicle safaris and the chance to have an elephant backed safari for a closer encounter.
