ACORN HOUSE RESTAURANT STEMS THE FLOW OF BOTTLED WATER

Acorn House follows suit of Water House by providing premium, sustainable bottled water - filtered on-site by Greencare H2O

LONDON, 30th April, 2008: London’s original, award-winning eco-restaurant, Acorn House, is the latest venue to bottle and serve its own still, or carbonated water to customers, using a filtration system from Greencare H20.  Following a successful month-long trial in sister restaurant, Water House Restaurant, founders Eat Green decided to make the front-of-house filtration systems a feature of both of their groundbreaking eco-restaurants.

Eat Green co-founder, Jamie Grainger-Smith said, “Serving extra-filtered tap water in Water House has been a great success.  As well as meeting our strict standards of sustainability, extra-filtering and serving water in personalised bottles compliments the ethos, uniformity and style of the two restaurants.”

According to analyst, TNS sales of bottled water have fallen by nine per cent in the last month.  Adam Warren, Managing Director, Greencare H20, said, “A widespread consumer rejection of bottled water has taken place and the restaurant trade is steadily adjusting to accommodate the change.  Bottling water on-site is an easy-win for restaurants, both in terms of reducing their carbon footprints and providing customers with premium, extra-filtered drinking water.”

A one litre bottle of Acorn House filtered water produces around 5,000 times less C02 than the production, transport and disposal of the equivalent amount of bottled water.  Acorn House & Water House subtly communicate these environmental benefits back to their customers on the back of their individually branded water bottles.

Jamie Grainger-Smith added, “Resoundingly, the feedback from our customers has been positive regarding our Greencare H2O filtration system.  The vast majority of customers say that our water tastes no different from bottled water.  For the few that do claim to notice a difference, it’s just a case of gently reminding them that in the UK we’re lucky enough to have amongst the safest and purest tap water in the world.”

Greencare H20 engineers installed and tested the Acorn House water filtration system in one morning.  The unit is made to a high specification to ensure a constant supply of water even during peak periods of demand and comes equipped with state-of-the-art “no-spill” filters to eliminate bacteria at the point-of-dispense.  In contrast to the regular deliveries required for the provision of bottled water, Greencare H2O’s water cooler units only require an average of two services per year in order to ensure they are functioning to the highest standards.
