Friday 22nd December 2006 – This week's Logistics Bulletin reports on M&A activity, contract wins, DC developments and senior appointments from across the Supply Chain. In the UK, FedEx has acquired ANC Holdings Limited, a UK domestic express transportation company for £120.0 million, whilst Investcorp has acquired Greatwide, one of the largest North American transportation and logistics services companies. In China's fragmented logistics market, SITC Logistics starts operations as of 01 January 2007.
As the year closes, property, DC and office developments have been reported by OOCL, Kuehne + Nagel, Pratt & Whitney, NYK Logistics and Coca-Cola. Amongst contract awards reported this week were wins for CEVA Logistics and NYK Logistics. Elsewhere, Tesco has announced plans to run its 2,000-strong fleet of lorries on biodiesel and key logistics appointments have been made at CEVA Logistics, Baylis Logistics and Ryder.

CEVA Logistics renews supply chain partnership with Nestlé in Italy 21 December 2006 – CEVA Logistics has consolidated its position in the FMCG sector in Italy by signing a contract renewal with Nestlé. Distribution logistics managed by CEVA includes the collection of products from Nestlé’s distribution centres at Albairate (MI), San Sepolcro (AR) and San Sisto (PG) and their subsequent distribution and delivery to more than 60,000 sales points in Italy. The distribution takes place through direct deliveries to end sales points or by using 13 transit point platforms that belong to the CEVA network. These transit platforms are fitted with controlled-temperature cells, with a total of 12,000m2 of available indoor surface area. CEVA also provides a series of high added-value services, including an advanced return information management system that enables Nestlé to invoice according to the delivery date.
