Friday 15th December 2006 – This week's Logistics Bulletin reports on the name change of TNT Logistics to CEVA Logistics, which along with the Company's new corporate identity completes the transition from a corporate division to a stand-alone logistics company. Elsewhere, Con-way and General Motors have agreed on a valuation for Vector SCM and the GLS Group has acquired the parcel and general cargo business of ABX Belgium Distribution.

In the healthcare sector, following Tyco International's announcement that it would split into three separate publicly traded companies, the Senior Management team for Tyco Healthcare has been announced including the appointment of Vice President Global Supply Chain. Staying in healthcare, AstraZeneca has reviewed its supply chain operations in the UK and has subsequently issued invitations to tender to various logistics companies, in order to enhance distribution of its medicines.

Distribution centre news includes Gazeley building a DC for ASDA in the UK, ProLogis has leased space to Ozburn-Hessey Logistics in the US, whilst it has also acquired eight distribution centres in Japan. Staying in the Asia Pacific region, Toll Holdings has announced it is to divide its Group in to separate businesses; one for the supply chain and one concentrating on networks. In employment news, UPS is offering an additional 650 employees voluntary redundancy, whilst senior appointments have been made at BAX Global and Schneider Logistics.
