This week's Logistics Bulletin reports on a number of full year financial results, global co-operation and contract wins. Panalpina and the NYK Group have agreed to cooperate both in Japan and internationally. According to the agreement, the NYK subsidiary Yusen Air & Sea Service (YAS) will become Panalpina's agent in Japan, whilst Panalpina will represent YAS' interests in various countries in addition to its existing network.
Among contract wins announced this week were awards to Wincanton, Kuehne + Nagel and Penske. The latter sees Ford Motor Company contract Penske to provide material planning and handling services at its Southampton, UK facility that produces approximately 80,000 Ford Transit vans annually.
Elsewhere this week, IATA has reported that cargo growth rates increased from 3.2% in 2005, to 4.6% in 2006, though they remain below the historical growth trend of 5.6%. Staying with freight news, DHL has launched the DHL Domestic Airfreight service in China. DHL Global Forwarding is the first international forwarder to obtain the CATA (China Air Transport Association) domestic air freight license, allowing them to operate within 17 Chinese cities. This is a key milestone for both the Company and the domestic logistics market, previously served only by Chinese state-owned and local companies. It is critical that hauliers, courier and express, logistics and distribution companies across all sectors understand and account for changes in their operational environment.
This report will assist decision makers within these organisations to ensure correct future investment into vehicles, resources, strategies and services that are not only compliant with future environmental legislation (Euro 4, Euro IV, Euro 5, Euro V, etc) and developments, but more importantly, are considered and hence able to take full advantage of some of the opportunities the future, 'greener', market will provide.
Click http://www.analytiqa.com/reports.aspx?ReportId=252 for more information.

Panalpina and NYK agree global cooperation
02 February 2007 - The agreement will provide new business opportunities for both parties
Panalpina and the NYK Group have agreed to cooperate both in Japan and internationally. The agency agreement with Yusen Air & Sea Service will allow Panalpina to consolidate all of its service offerings, purchasing and domestic activities in Japan. At the same time, YAS will gain access to Panalpina’s extensive network and in-depth market knowledge. Thus both parties will strengthen their respective networks and procurement capabilities, with mutual benefits on a global basis.
As part of the agreement, Panalpina will appoint YAS as its agent for air and ocean freight business in Japan. YAS in turn assigns Panalpina to be its representative in several countries across Latin America, Africa and the Middle East. The collaboration creates global advantages for both parties in their respective markets, including mutually beneficial co-loading opportunities.
Elsewhere this week:

Norbert Dentressangle see pick up in organic growthhttp://www.analytiqa.com/newsitem.aspx?articleid=2205
International operations boost performance at UPShttp://www.analytiqa.com/newsitem.aspx?articleid=2206
YRC Worldwide delivers 13.5% increase in operating revenuehttp://www.analytiqa.com/newsitem.aspx?articleid=2207
CH Robinson reports 19.8% increase in Q4 Truck transportation gross profitshttp://www.analytiqa.com/newsitem.aspx?articleid=2208
