WiFiMobile provide wholesale provisioning for VoIP Service Providers

Los Angeles, California July 10th 2007

Leading mobile VoIP supplier WiFiMobile today announced an enhancement to it’s back-end provisioning service aimed at VoIP Service Providers. Through the use of a web service the Service Provider is able to provision user’s Nokia phones onto their network via WiFiMobile’s SMS gateway anywhere in the world. This dramatically simplifies the complex steps to provision and activate VoIP services.

VoIP provisioning presents a market opportunity not only for traditional telcos, but also for new players, such as ISPs. The company’s product offering gives Service Providers enhanced capabilities to automate provisioning and integrate with their existing OSS applications to rapidly introduce, deliver and manage VoIP services. Service Providers can host their own web site and make calls to the WiFiMobile provisioning server via a web service or alternatively WiFiMobile can host the web site.

Companies are given the option of provisioning the Nokia VoIP client or WiFiMobile’s proprietary oneFone client. Using the Nokia client an SMS sent to the phone is opened and simply saved ( client provisioning ). This automatically configures the SIP settings for the device. The oneFone client is downloaded over GPRS or a Wi-Fi access point and can add VOIP functionality to all Nseries and Eseries phones. An alternative method supported is OMA DM ( Device Management ). This permits any setting in the phone to be changed by the operator OTA.

Part of the solution is a Presence server. This allows the end user to scroll through their contact list and view who is online at any time.

Enterprises also have the option of using Nokia smart-phones as extensions to their SIP compliant corporate IP PBX system. The Nokia device then acts as both a standard GSM handset and as an extension to the company switchboard.

WiFiMobile’s CEO Gerry O’Prey says “Service Providers can now enter the mobile VoIP market extremely quickly and painlessly by making use of our unique turn-key solution”
