Wi-Fi smartphones now readily available for US consumers
Las Vegas, Nevada July 3rd 2007
Leading mobile VoIP provider WiFiMobile today announced that they are selling smartphones with built in Wi-Fi directly to US consumers and businesses.
The US online store at www.wifimobile.com supplies a variety of unlocked Wi-Fi supported cellular devices. These enable end users to take advantage of Internet Telephony (mobile VoIP), Email, and Internet browsing when in range of a Wi-Fi access point such as in the home, office or a public hotspot. All of these result in massive cost savings over using a data plan. The devices have a built in media player and Wi-Fi facilitates being able to play music from the phone over a home network.
Enterprises also have the option of using the smartphones as extensions to their corporate IP PBX system. The cellular device then acts as both a standard GSM handset and as an extension to the company switchboard.
While these particular smartphones have been incredibly successful in the European market, they have not been available in the US due to the US carrier’s reluctance in taking them on board. Draining battery life has been an argument for some but users have the option to switch Wi-Fi off when not required.
All smartphones available at the online store are very competitively priced and same day shipping is available. All devices are unlocked for use with any SIM card and come with a full one year’s manufacturer’s warranty. As WiFiMobile specialize in these particular devices, customers are promised top quality ongoing and technical support.
WiFiMobile’s CEO Gerry O’Prey says “The availability of Wi-Fi equipped smartphones and the growing popularity of VoIP are breaking down the boundaries of cellular telecoms and the Internet. The market in Europe has boomed in the last couple of years and it’s now time to give US consumers a choice. A Wi-Fi enabled device can ultimately save the end user money, is that why US carriers are shying away?”
