Mobile phone company Vodafone will enter the broadband market before the end of the year after teaming up with BT to provide broadband services.

Mobile phone company Vodafone will enter the broadband market before the end of the year after teaming up with BT to provide broadband services.

Vodafone's move into broadband will increase competition in an already crowded market. Since TalkTalk free broadband offer, other companies have jumped on the bandwagon. title="o2 broadband">O2 recently snapped up Be Broadband, Orange took over Wanadoo, and Sky is now offering broadband to its customers.

The increased competition is good news for consumers who can expect to see prices fall as more bundled packages come on to the market.

Broadband Genie CEO Philip Wilkinson says: "This is another example of a mobile provider entering the broadband market and positioning itself to offer a bundled deal consisting of broadband, mobile and fixed line phone services.

"It will be interesting to see if Vodafone go for the 'free' broadband approach that its rival Orange took when it bought Wanadoo and started offering broadband services earlier this year."
