Local Telecoms Company Victorious in Soccer Fundraiser

Bosses from a Leigh telecommunications company recently matched their success in business with success on the football field in a charity football match – raising over £600 in the process.

A team of footballing fundraisers from Corporate Telecommunications, a fast-growing distributor of headsets, telephony, voice and data installation equipment, took on a team from global electronics giant Fujitsu Services earlier this month in the inaugural Corporate Telecommunications - Fujitsu Charity Shield.
Founded in 1994, Corporate Telecommunications, based at Leigh Business Park, has been a supplier to Fujitsu Services and its predecessor companies for over a decade. It supplies telephony equipment such as headsets to Fujitsu’s sales teams and end-users.
In a nail-biting game, Corporate Telecommunications, which employs 25 people and has a £9.9 million turnover, managed to turn a 2-2 half-time deadlock in to a 5-4 victory.
The event, held at Daten Sports Club in Culcheth, raised £640 for two charities, Cancer Research and Children in Need.
Paul Baxter, Corporate Telecommunication’s general manager and victorious captain, said “it is not about winners and losers, it is about raising money for cancer sufferers and deprived children – and it was great that we were able to do it with such a valued client as Fujitsu.”
Gary Ashcroft, an inventory manager at Fujitsu Services and the defeated captain, added: “it was a close game on the night, but Corporate Telecommunications just sneaked it. We can’t be too disappointed though, because we managed to raise some money for our chosen charities, which was the whole purpose of the game.”
Corporate Telecommunications is not being allowed to savour its victory for too long, however. Ashcroft says that plans are already underway for a re-match, again with the proceeds going to charity.
