GET A PHONE NUMBER FOR YOUR IPOD TOUCH Com'cetera ipTexter offers phone numbers for iPod Touch A new public-beta release of "ipTexter" from UK-based messaging specialist Com'cetera is offering real, dedicated mobile phone numbers for the iPod touch, allowing it to send and receive SMS text messages just like its big brother, the iPhone. Com'cetera CEO, Steve Smale explains, "Whilst other products let you text from your iPod, ipTexter is the first product to offer every iPod Touch user a unique, dedicated phone number". This means iPod Touch users can now give out a phone number to receive texts and replies from friends and colleagues just like any standard phone or SMS device. Offered as a Web Application, ipTexter looks similar to the iPhone's SMS application, but uses the iPod Touch's WiFi connection to send and receive messages through a custom-designed message centre. Phone numbers are allocated from a pool of standard UK-based (07786) numbers from which can receive messages from mobile networks around the globe. ipTexter is just at home on the iPhone, where it offers the possibility of a second number to separate business and personal messaging, and cheap texting with messages costing just 5p to any network worldwide. Meanwhile the WiFi connection means the end of roaming fees when texting from abroad. With "line rental" on ipTexter phone numbers weighing in at a very reasonable 7.99 GBP - ipTexter is set to be the latest must-have application for the iPod power user! Website: www.ipTexter.com |
