Former datacenter executive joins the newly acquired Hosted Solutions

Raleigh, NC – April 15, 2008 - Hosted Solutions, the East Coast’s premier data center and managed services provider, today announced it added Christopher “Kip” Turco to its management team as Chief Operating Officer (COO). 

This follows last week’s announcement that Hosted Solutions was acquired by Boston-based ABRY Partners for $140 million. 

Turco is the first of a dozen planned new hires at Hosted Solutions and will be based in the Raleigh, NC headquarters.  As COO, he will oversee all operations for the business and will refine the company’s methodologies and best practices as it expands.

“Everything we’re doing right now positions us to take the company to the next level,” says Rich Lee, Founder and CEO of Hosted Solutions.  “Our recent partnership with ABRY Partners provides us with the capital to accelerate our growth, and now that Kip is on board, we have more executive firepower.   As we aggressively expand the company and move into new markets, he will help us scale the business effectively, get stronger operationally and be more disciplined in our processes.” 

Turco, a Boston native, has a long history of working for leading technology companies.  He joins Hosted Solutions from Durham-based Motricity, where he was Senior Vice President of Operations and Engineering, overseeing more than 250 employees in engineering, operations, development and QA functions.  He played a key role in helping the company grow from $35 million to more than $100 million.  Prior to Motricity, he spent 5 years at Inflow, a national data center provider that was later acquired by Sungard.

“Kip understands our business very well and has proven that he can effectively build scalable operations groups in rapidly growing businesses,” Lee comments.  “This is a very unique talent so we are proud to have him on our team.”   When Turco first came to the Triangle nearly eight years ago, he was a general manager for Inflow, then a local data center and competitor of Hosted Solutions.   Lee continues, “I’ve known Kip since the early days when Hosted Solutions was a startup company.   We were fierce competitors back then, but always maintained a friendly relationship.”

Turco lives in Holly Springs with his wife and young children.  “Both ABRY Partners and Hosted Solutions are committed to keeping and growing the company in the Triangle and this was one of the most important factors in my decision,” says the father of three. 

Turco is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and was commissioned as an infantry officer. He later became a Platoon Leader and Rifle Company Commander with the United States Army for the 10th Mountain Division and 25th Infantry Division respectively.
