Engelmann Media is already well placed with its recording program CDRWIN and the backup tool DiscSafe. Under the series title "5star Software" additional programs are being developed. Two of them are even available as freeware - the 5star Currency Calculator and 5star Outlook Antiblock.

With the "5star Software" series Engelmann Media establish their own brand. 5star Mobile Video, 5star Game Copy, 5star Audio Studio, 5star freeTunes and 5star Movie Enhancer are the first five programs that directly aim at the booming multimedia trade.

Quasi as giveaway Engelmann Media offers two 5star-programs as freeware. Every user can download them free of charge and apply them permanently without any restriction.

5star Currency Calculator

Those who - prior to a journey or international online-shopping - want to know how many US-dollars they get for their hard-earned euros should consult the 5star Currency Calculator. The small tool converts back and forth 37 currencies, among them Euro, US-Dollar, Japanese Yen, British Pounds Sterling, Swiss Franks and South African Rand.

Even laymen can easily handle the tool. One only has to mark two currencies in a selection menu and determine the amount of one of them - for instance ten euro. 5star Currency Calculator automatically calculates the converted amount, e.g. thirteen dollars.

Naturally a currency converter is only as precise as the exchange rates on which it is based. Once a day the tool takes over the exchange rates from the European Central Bank. This is made fully automatically. The status line of 5star Currency Calculator indicates date and time of the last update.

5star Outlook Antiblock

Even if there are brilliant alternative E-mail programs: most users still use Outlook to send and receive E-mails. The Outlook default settings automatically block special mail attachments that might be a risk for the system. Due to the widespread macro viruses this also affects Word-documents and Excel-charts.

This is exactly the problem. Sometimes the user wants to open these Word- or Excel-files in Outlook because he definitely knows that they are harmless. That does not work. Or maybe it does?

The 5star Outlook Antiblock tool lists all file types that are presently blocked in Outlook, i.e. cannot be opened as attachment for safety reasons. As of now it only takes a mouse click to release the files. The program can be used with Outlook versions 2000 to 2003.

Of course one must be aware of the fact that E-Mail attachments can always contain viruses. The tool is therefore always used at one's own risk.
