Elliot Scientific announces that it has been appointed by Codixx, Germany, as distributor of its high-quality dichroic glass polarizers for use in the ultraviolet, visible and infrared regions. The colorPol® range of polarizers are built on a unique technology - doping of sodium silicate glass with prolate silver nanoparticles - that allow for the production of customized products with an extraordinary flexibility that meets the demands for all spectral ranges, contrast conditions and designs.

Polarizers in action

Polarizers are used in a wide range of diverse optical devices to pass or stop polarized light, to modulate or reduce brightness, diminish noise and lots more. Due to their excellent properties and outstanding adaptability, colorPol® polarizers are usable in many applications:
  • Optical sensor devices
  • Illumination engineering
  • Instrument filters for laboratory equipment in microscopy, ellipsometry, spectroscopy and polarimetry
  • Photoelasticity / surface inspection
  • Fibre related sensors
  • Polarization dependent optical isolators
  • Optical communications engineering and data storage
  • Electro-optical modulators
  • High-temperature LC-Displays and LC-Shutters
  • Lyot-Filter
The colorPol® range has the advantage that they are flat like foil polarizers, can be processed like glass or silicon wafers and have large acceptance angles. Standard dimensions range from 5 x 5 mm2 up to 50 x 30 mm2 and various thicknesses, from 0.2 to 2 mm raw, or laminated onto carrier glass. Custom sizes, shapes and anti-reflection coatings are available on request. The performance of a custom-made polarizer can be optimized to a customer's requirements by trading off transmittance and extinction ratio at a given wavelength.

Polarizer selection

The polarizers are produced to DIN-ISO 9001:2000 standards to guarantee the highest quality and provide high temperature stability (up to + 400° C), resistance against rough environmental influences and most chemicals, UV radiation and bleaching. For more information contact: Simon Weight, Senior Sales Engineer
