Codestone backs teenagers in national tournament

A Poole technology company has given its support to a national squash tournament.

Codestone is now the official sponsor of the annual Bournemouth Junior Squash Open and staff were among those to attend the event on May 24 and 25.

Morad Molavi of Codestone said: “As a company we’re keen to support local initiatives encouraging competitive spirit in young people. We’re constantly hearing negative news about teenagers and antisocial behaviour but so many are working hard and achieving and we wanted to recognise that.”

40 players from around the UK took part in the two day tournament at Bournemouth’s West Hants Club. Codestone donated £500 prize money, which was shared between the finalists.

Organiser Martin Wells said: “Having a financial incentive was very motivating for the young people taking part. The players worked incredibly hard to reach this level and it was good to reward their efforts.”

The overall winners in the Under 15s category were 14-year-old Jack Fowler from Hertfordshire and Natalie Machin, 13, from Buckinghamshire. In the Under 19s age group Steve Wykes from Wiltshire was triumphant in the boys’ event and Somerset’s Tessa Healey, 19, won the girls’ final.

Based in Poole and Manchester, Codestone is a leading provider of IT application and infrastructure solutions for organisations ranging from small to medium enterprises to major PLCs, national and international organisations.

The firm recently completed a £1.5million office move to the Nuffield Industrial Estate.
