Video-Communities are the latest trend in Internet. Movie trailers, crazy commercials and homemade absurdities ensure the greatest fun when clicking. What a pity one can only watch the funny films on the Web. The freeware 5star MovieSaver allows to store the flash films on the hard disc and play them e.g. with Windows Media Player.
The whole creativity of the Web-crowd is bubbling over in video communities like YouTube.com (www.youtube.com) or Google Video (http://video.google.com). After several years during which on-liners could only have their fling with texts and pictures now new exciting videos are generated every second, which are then posted on the Internet free of charge and for everybodys amusement. No matter whether famous stories like "Star Wars" are retold in fun films like "Store Wars" starring dressed-up cucumbers, or whether young girls pose as Barbie or all sorts of nonsense is presented in a Jackass-style: one can find innumerable cult videos in the Net. Save Online-Videos - but how? Well-known Video-Communities allow every visitor to play the videos with a mouse click, to comment them or mail the playback address to a friend. What does not work, however, is to store the films, most of them in flash-format. Tim Stoepler of Engelmann Media GmbH: "Thats a pity because often enough you want to show the family, a colleague or the best friend one of these brilliant movies although you are not on-line." Exactly for this purpose Engelmann Media gives away the freeware-tool 5star MovieSaver. One can feed the program with the link of an online video and automatically store the appropriate flash film in FLV-format on the hard disc. . Engelmann Media GmbH has specialized in the field of digital video processing. The commercial software 5star Movie Enhancer for instance allows to improve the resolution of existing films without having to resort to expensive hardware and professional studios. Thus the mobile phone video fits onto the video-DVD and a video-DVD becomes a High-Definition-Film for XBox 360 or PlayStation 3. 5star Mobile Video works the other way round. The program compresses existing films so that they can be taken over to a PDA, a mobile phone, an iPod or another mobile device.. 5star MovieSaver works as follows 5star MovieSaver is extremely easy to handle. In case of an existing Internet-connection one can simply use Drag and Drop to drag the video link from the browser to the tools program window. The freeware immediately asks for the desired memory location and a new name for the video file and after a short confirmation the download is started. It goes without saying that 5star MovieSaver not only works with YouTube.com and Google Video but also supports the video links of mytube.de and clickfish.de. The support of additional video portals is being prepared. The program stores the flash films in video format FLV1, which can be converted to other formats with the new 5star-program versions, 5star Movie Enhancer and 5star Mobile Video. Thanks to the DirectShow-compatible splitters and decoders that are enclosed to 5star Movie Saver, one can also play the FLV1-Videos directly with the Windows Media Player. 5star MovieSaver is presently available in version 1.0. The freeware is ready for download from the Engelmann-Homepage (7,7 MB).
