Western media Show Indian Media Deaf and Blind on Sai Baba

My blogged article 'Reticence on Top Guru, Sathya Sai Baba, Weaken' is at:

I contend that a welter of researched articles and television documentaries in the Western media have made life hard for an Indian media that has long suppressed news adverse to India's most powerful and influential guru, Sathya Sai Baba. The media buckled to the state and central governments of the day when, as the BBC's The Secret Swami has shown, investigation of police killings in Sai Baba's bedroom on June 6, 1993 were heavily suppressed. Paul Lewis's story in The Guardian 'The Indian living god, the paedophilia claimes and the Duke of Edinburgh Awards', Nov. 3, 2006 was but the latest blast sustained by Sai Baba and his worldwide organisation. What much added to the effect of the Lewis article was the Indo-Asian News Service report that, unexpected, was taken up by several Indian newspapers, including the Times of India, as well as those far beyond - e.g., in South Asia and some parts of the Middle East.
