Freedom to Choose in International Summit Against Prohibition, 2-3 May 2008
Written by Freedom to Choose Press Office
Tuesday, 29 April 2008

The extent of government influence on the daily life of the ordinary citizen is growing rapidly. With governments ever more dictating the way people are running their businesses or living their private lives, the time has come for a powerful counter-movement to appear: a movement that will defend the
freedom of choice for citizens.

Therefore, on May 2-3, delegates of several organisations worldwide will gather on a ship in Holland to prepare a new international umbrella organisation, 'International Coalition Against Prohibition' (ICAP). The summit will include organisations from a multitude of countries, including Canada, US, Ireland,  Scotland, Wales, England, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Hungary and Italy.

In addition to the formation of this new organisation, this summit meeting will also explore the possibilities to prepare a range of conferences on topics that are part of the 'prohibition' issue. A first conference is scheduled to be held in the autumn of this year.  Scientists, journalists, politicians, businessmen, victims and topic-experts will present issues relevant to prohibition states.  Discussions will also cover the background of the anti-smoking hype. Subsequent conferences might focus more on alcohol and fat prohibition as well as "green" economies.

The summit will end on Saturday, May 3, with a press conference on the ship Aldebaran that will be located in the harbour of Hoorn (the Netherlands). The press conference is scheduled at 16:00 (4.00 PM).
