There are few organizations which devote almost as much attention to their social responsibility as they do to their commercial pursuits. Those which do either do not last long in business or have been created with a specific task in mind and are financed through channels other than their commercial activities.

There are few organizations which devote almost as much attention to their social responsibility as they do to their commercial pursuits. Those which do either do not last long in business or have been created with a specific task in mind and are financed through channels other than their commercial activities.

It is this aspect exactly which makes Ethan Weitz tours unique. Over the last few years the Ethan Weitz Charters company has made a name for offering the same high quality boat charter service that was normally the preserve of wealthy individuals and large corporations.

Each year a number of tours are organized to allow underprivileged children to enjoy the excitement and tranquility of a chartered boat tour. Ethan Weitz Charters has announced that this year there will be two separate trips held late mid-summer, usually prime chartered boat season for most operators, for the children of Patterns Shelter and the Kinship Foster Care trust in Southern California.

With characteristic thoughtfulness founder and owner of Ethan Weitz Charters, Ethan Weitz, had this to say: “Late middle summer is a great time to take kids out in the water. It is hot, there is no wind and no swells and kids are less likely to get seasick. That way they get to enjoy the trip and the experience of being in a boat out at sea a lot more.”

Ethan Weitz captains a 31 foot Contender  which he pilots and takes fishing off of south Florida and Bahamian waters for sailfish, tuna, and most other pelagic species. His company has quietly established itself as a market leader in social responsibility with its founder engaged in a great many other society-enhancing activities.

Both the Patterns Shelter and Kinship Foster Care are organizations which lack the high profile glitz of other charities, as a result they tend to get overlooked when it comes to considering philanthropic activities by corporations.

“As a company actively involved in Californian society I am aware that we cannot just focus on the money-making aspect of our business,” says Mr Weitz, “Ethan Weitz Charters, in my mind, have a very specific role to play in society. That role extends in the way we develop the service we offer to enhance the life of those who would not normally have this opportunity.”

Ethan Weitz Charters, on the net, operate out of the website: http://www.ewcharters.org which also chronicles some of the trips they operate.
