The Defense is the type of book that will resonate for so many people. The idea of not feeling like you are good enough or even feeling uncomfortable in your own skin is so prevalent in everyday life that it makes this book even more real and important. The characters are so amazing and deep, that it makes one stop and think about their own life. This is definitely a must have, must read novel for any woman who feels she is not good enough as she is.

Samantha is a BBW at a size 18. She doesn’t think that any man would want her as she is and that idea is reiterated to her by the people in her life, like her mother and friends. The only person who makes her feel good as she is, is Bruce, a Korean student in her graduate program. When Bruce and Samantha team up on a volunteer project the two become more than classmates and more than just friends. Before anything can truly happen between them, Samantha is going to have to learn to love herself as she is and accept that beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder

This is an amazing novel. It touched me with its message and made me think about myself. I highly recommend this story to every woman. It is so much more than a fabulous romance . This is a lesson about excepting yourself and loving yourself.
