Post Traumatic Stress Disorder destroys the lives of tens of thousands of people who get caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, usually in violent circumstances. Their families also suffer the consequences of this debilitating dosorder and the economic and financial consequesnces are enormous. An Australian based stress management consultant has instigated a world wide research program to create effective and rapid self treatments for sufferers. Victims of PTSD are asked to complete a confidential on-line survey to take part in this important research. An Australian based psychotherapist and stress management expert is seeking participants in a world wide research survey of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Panic Disorder sufferers and their families. The results will be included in the all encompassing research project designed to clearly identify the basis of variations in the condition and further develop consistent, effective treatments. Unlike past work in this area, this research will be used to create an enhanced treatment program designed to control and eliminate the disorders through communicating directly with the part of the unconscious memory triggering the event. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder strikes a wide variety of people and can be triggered by a number of events and circumstances. The stress of war, accident, rape, child molestation and any life threatening event can trigger a life long barrage of nightmarish symptoms. A significant percentage of Vietnam and Iraq veterans still go through hell as a result of their experience. Panic attacks often occur without warning and give the victim an awful feeling of impending doom. Such symptoms include high levels of anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, flash-backs, dissociation, avoidance of other people and intense anger. The family and friends of sufferers also have a hard time dealing with the effects of the condition. Often the victims wrongly blame themselves or believe they are weak because they cannot control the symptoms. Suicide is often the unfortunate outcome because standard psychological and drug therapies are often ineffective. Victims feel isolated and deserted.
