WRVS employee wins Fundraiser of the Year award

Michael Dent, relationship management manager for WRVS was last night (7 July) presented with title of ‘Fundraiser of the Year’ in the annual Institute of Fundraising award ceremony held at the Hilton London Metropole.

Michael Dent said: “It’s been absolutely amazing, it’s been great for me, great for WRVS and great for the people that we help every day. My thanks go out to our super team who have worked with such enthusiasm, motivation and creativity.”

Michael joined WRVS in 2005 and has shown himself to be an outstanding fundraiser, turning a poorly designed and implemented individual giving programme into a highly successful, well planned one. He has introduced face-to-face, insert, cold mail and raffle campaigns along with a major donor programme, legacy strategy and an innovative in Memoriam programme. His innovations have turned a net loss of £250,000 in 2005 into a current net profit of over £600,000 in 2007.

Michael added: “I’ve been in fundraising now for over eight years and done everything from run the London Marathon, the ‘Great Gorilla Run’ and bungee jumping from Chelsea Bridge. This award just convinces me that there’s more work to be done, more supporters to be brought in and a lasting practical difference to make to people’s lives.”
