WRVS chief exeutive appointed to the panel of the Third Sector Advisory Board (TSAB)

Lynne Berry, chief executive of WRVS, has today, 1 July, been appointed to the panel of the new Third Sector Advisory Body (TSAB).

Lynne expressed her delight at being appointed to the panel: "It will be an honour to work with such a distinguished group of people to support a thriving third sector. At a time when all political parties and every government department has emphasised the vital role of the third sector, it will be tremendous to have the opportunity to influence policy making and to help create the conditions in which voluntary organisations, social enterprises and charities can continue to flourish."

The TSAB was set up following the widest ever consultation with the third sector and aims to provide ministers with clear and authoritative advice on policy regarding the third sector, including charities, voluntary groups and social enterprise.

Phil Hope, Minister for the Third Sector, said: “The advisory body has a hugely important role in helping the Government make the right choices for a thriving third sector.”

Baroness Jill Pitkeathley OBE who was appointed as the chair of TSAB on 9 April, said: “I’m delighted with these appointments. Their range of experience and backgrounds will ensure a robust advisory body that won’t be afraid to talk straight. We will start work as soon as possible to ensure that the third sector’s interests are put at the heart of policy making.”
