Top female footballers including Chelsea’s Emma Delvers and Birmingham City’s Christina Torkinsen and Milly Durrant will play a charity football match this Saturday as part of the international ‘Go Sisters World Series’ in aid of the charity ‘Friend of EduSport’.

The match will kick-off at 1pm in Brook Farm Open Space, High Road, Whetstone and will see professional female footballers playing alongside amateurs in a bid to bring the mission of the Zambian based ‘Go Sisters’ program to a worldwide audience.  Tickets cost £5 and can be purchased on the day at the event.

“‘Go Sisters’ is a highly successful program run by EduSport an NGO in Zambia that is best known for its use of football to engage young women in an active lifestyle and encourage them to fulfil their potential both academically and in the field of sport.” Says Fiona Campbell, Sponsorship Manager of ‘Friend of EduSport’ (, the charity hosting the event.

Go Sisters uses ‘Kicking Aids Out’ activities effectively within their training sessions and at their tournaments to allow girls to come together and learn vital facts about AIDS and how to protect themselves against transmission.

Saturday’s game will make up the London leg of the ‘Go Sisters World Series’, while games in Bath, Edinburgh, America, and several locations in Zambia have also been organised to take place this day.

“The funds raised by Saturday’s match will go to both the ‘Go Sisters’ programme in Zambia and the UK based charity ‘Friend of EduSport’. Friend of EduSport intends to utilise its share of the funds by providing educational scholarships to players who have become peer leaders in Zambia and taken on the responsibility of sharing their knowledge with their friends and family.” Says Derek Keir, Director of EduSport.

“The message of Go Sisters extends beyond the football pitch and serves to empower young women around the world to unite and seek equal opportunities through the vehicle of sport.” Says Clare Farrow, organizer and ex England U18, Doncaster Belles and Leeds United player.

A social will be held after the game in The New Bull and Butcher pub which has kindly given us both indoor and outdoor space for our players and supporters.
