New Nonprofit Report Challenges Conventional Wisdom of Sector

Tuesday, October 9, 2007, Mission Movers Group releases 50 page nonprofit capacity building report that challenges the conventional wisdom of the sector.  The report challenges the industry claims on needing more money to improve standards.

The report “The New Rules Capacity Building Report: The new rules for effective capacity building in the 21st century” basically says that nonprofit organizations to improve outcomes are focusing on the wrong activities.  The report asks “What makes a nonprofit high performing and an attractor of resources while others sit in mediocrity?”

This Report is now in its second edition and looks at case examples of high performing nonprofits like Grameen Bank in Bangladesh, Byrraju Foundation in India, Kiva based out of San Francisco, Donors Choose from NY and a few others. These cases studies will give you a glimpse of the three fundamental rules of capacity building. The report compares  these organizations to top companies like Starbucks, Costco and GE to see that the laws of capacity building are very similar to those in the for-profit sector. In addition to reviewing top organizations, you will be introduced to an overview of critical books, resources and reports that you can follow-up on.
