Sweden, Denmark and Germany embrace Canadian songstress Melanie Dekker Melanie Dekker is loading up the gear to embark on an extensive 24 city Kulture Klub tour of Northern European concert venues. This triple A artist is building on the buzz of her previous tours while her emotional & successful “Wounded soldier” song and video and her playfully crafted new radio single “Haven’t even kissed you yet” are pulling strings in all the right places. “I love playing in Europe,” say Dekker, “It’s probably the combination of my Dutch roots, the wonderful warm way the German’s receive my concerts and the yellow brick road style adventures and stories that go with touring places with such thick and deep roots that lure me in over and over…I see my face plastered on walls and billboards and music shops and I feel proud to sign albums and body parts and bring my Canadian music to them. Dekker’s has had 3 hit singles on Canadian commercial Radio. “When I think of you”, “Blue Blanket” and “I said I” have been in strong rotation in Canada since 2003. Dekker’s music is now breaking on European radio, which has quickly listed Dekker on both commercial, web and University radio stations. The 2008 spring tour through Northern Europe will be a stripped down intimate Dekker show featuring Melanie accompanied by virtuoso sideman and well-known classical and rock composer Jason Nett. Guitar maven Nett has just finished working alongside Chris Potter who is well known for his work with Sarah McLaughlin and Bryan Adams. Melanie Dekker’s most recent released recordings have been with David Kershenbaum, who is also the producer for Tracy Chapman, Joe Jackson, and Duran Duran. Established engineer Scott Church turned the dials and slid the sliders on this work as well. “Revealed” captures Dekker’s vivacious style in a neat bundle of love songs, with a mixture of curiosity and heartbreak.
