President of Leaping Cat Records, Phil Powell announced yesterday:

"For the first time ever this is a label that ensures the bands get most of the money earned from their performances and releases. All the bands signed to Leaping Cat Records are deemed as ‘ready’ and the label does not get involved in artistic development which guarantees all shows to be top-line and totally professional. The first Leaping Cat Records album ‘First Wave’ is now released and on-sale both physically and digitally. You can find it at www.leapingcatrecords.com and you can order it at most good record shops. There are six more CDs each from the individual bands due for release before 3rd March, these also will be available as above."

Leaping Cat Records are also providing a no-stock distribution service for unsigned bands allowing bands to sell 1000s of CDs and downloads with out ever actually having to touch the CDs or pay for a duplication run, this has never been done before and opens the market place to bands that previously would not have had the opportunity to get their music into the market place. The distribution also extends to digital, there is a one time £39 set-up fee for the first CD-title and £25 for each CD-title thereafter, the label then charges 20% + production costs and pays the bands out every month. The idea is that any band can now get their music to the listeners and earn fantastic profit from it whilst music lovers are now able to buy CDs from bands that they may never have got to hear previously.
