Top UK Gov Minister leads Bird Flu Cover Up

Following the cull of 160,000 turkeys infected by Bird Flu, Sir David King, the UK Government's Chief Scientific Adviser appeared on BBC TV News on Monday 5th Feb to claim there was no reason for concern as only 275 people had been infected by Bird Flu in past few years.

Clearly designed to calm public fears, it is miles apart from the WHO's published statistics and hides the truth, which every first year medical student knows, that the H5N1 virus is many more times deadly than AIDS.

Is is now generally accepted the 1918 Bird Flu Pandemic killed between 75 to 150 Million in 3 years, whilst AIDS has barely killed 40 Million in 25 years.

In 2006 it was estimated around 40 million persons were living with AIDS/HIV infections and 3 million died - roughly 10% mortality rate, whilst in the same year over 55% of persons infected by Bird Flu died.

What Sir David King omitted to say, was at this point in time the stockpiles of antivirals in the UK & US are barely sufficient to treat first responders ( emergency and medical services ), and the latest reported Bird Flu deaths would suggest the H5N1 virus has developed some immunity to the same antivirals.

The UK are fortunate not to have to rely on Government mouthpieces since they have other sources of more reliable information.

The local East Anglia newspaper was reminding residents to keep cats and dogs inside as they were also potentially at risk.

The discovery, was announced in last week's New Scientist, that the H5N1 bird flu virus is widespread in cats in locations across Indonesia has refocused attention on the danger that the deadly virus could be mutating into a form that can infect humans far more easily.
