Department of research writing at ACNE HOME reports a research conducted on birth defects caused by Accutane in spite of employing risk management system. Accutane May Cause Birth Defects Despite Risk Management SystemAtlanta, Georgia, 12/15/2007 – Department of research writing at ACNE HOME reports a research conducted on birth defects caused by Accutane in spite of employing risk management system.
According to March of Dimes Foundation, “It's certainly a positive step that FDA and the drug manufacturers have made this information publicly available, so that the iPledge program can be properly evaluated," said Michael Katz, M.D., senior vice president for Research and Global Programs of the March of Dimes. "Although no human system will ever be perfect, the goal is to prevent birth defects to the fullest extent possible. No woman should ever take isotretinoin while pregnant and no woman should get pregnant while taking isotretinoin. Too many pregnancies still are being exposed to this drug”.
Isotretinoin is chemically related to vitamin A or more precisely, isotretinoin is a derivative of natural vitamin A. The most common birth defect by accutane or isotretinoin are mental retardation, brain and heart defects, defect in esophagus and alimentary canals etc. There may be other risks, so do consult your physician first and apprise him or her about your family history and what they ask for best prevention of birth defects like mental retardation.
