DermaSilk® Therapeutic Clothing has been approved for inclusion on the UK Drug Tariff. This range of silk undergarments has been clinically proven to be more effective than traditional cotton garments in alleviating the "itch/scratch" cycle associated with eczema and dermatitis. From August 1st 2007, part of the DermaSilk® Therapeutic Clothing range will be available on NHS prescription. The PPA (Prescription Pricing Authority) has approved the children’s range, plus the tubular sleeves and gloves for use by both children and adults, for inclusion on the Drug Tariff. This exciting announcement was made at the BAD (British Association of Dermatology) Annual Meeting at the Birmingham International Conference Centre on July 10th. Espère Healthcare Ltd is the exclusive distributor for DermaSilk in the UK and Ireland, and co-director Chris Steeples commented as follows, “These products have only been available in this country since last September and they’ve already built up a very strong following. In fact, virtually every single dermatology nurse and community nurse that we’ve spoken to has been asking when they’ll be available on prescription! I’m delighted that the NHS have approved DermaSilk so quickly. These undergarments are comfortable and children are happy to wear them. PPA approval means a lot to us, but it also means a lot for children with eczema and their families.” The complete list of products passed by the PPA is as follows:
Since there are different DermaSilk Therapeutic Clothing products and sizes, pharmacists will have their own dedicated telephone order line (08700 42 42 32) to assist with their enquiries. Espère Healthcare recognises that patients need – and want – their prescription items quickly, so orders will be delivered direct within 48 hours. - e n d s - July 2007 |
