An innovative communication aid capable of improving the everyday life of a patient who has had a stroke, is to be showcased at Rehacare - the world’s number one exhibition for rehabilitation and assistive technology in Germany on October 3-6, 2007. The Handy Communicator Aid, available from UK based Heeken House Ltd, fits in the palm of a patient’s hand; allowing him or her to communicate by pointing to a wide choice of relevant images or words. The aid, which is constantly available to the patient with it being able to fit into a pocket, handbag or hung from a wheelchair; is easy to use as it includes no bells, whistles, batteries or breakable parts. It is also readily cleanable and hygienic. As well as helping people who have had a stroke, the therapeutic tool assists people suffering from aphasia, speech, language and learning difficulties to communicate with family, friends and healthcare professionals. Scott Kenworthy, Managing Director of Heeken House said: “Rehacare is a fantastic platform for us to exhibit the affordable Handy Communicator Aid; capable of giving patients some of their independence back.” For more information visit www.heekenhouse.com
