Parapsychology and the Skeptics author examines how the Skeptical community and magazines like the Skeptical Inquirer deal with scientific evidence for psi, telepathy and ESP.
Del Mar, CA, May 6, 2008 -- Join Alex Tsakiris for part two of his interview with author, Chris Carter. During the 30-minute interview Carter explains why Skeptics oppose parapsychology research: You have to remember that the argument is not really about the evidence. The argument is about [Skeptic’s] assumptions and their preconceptions. Their preconceptions are, with these sort of phenomena, that they don’t make any sense and challenge their world view. So, they’re going to do anything they possibly can to dismiss evidence that challenges their preconceptions. A complete transcript of the interview is available at: http://www.skeptiko.com/blog/?p=8. Alex Tsakiris is one of a group at www.Skeptiko.com./blog replicating the research of Dr. Rupert Sheldrake. This research examines the telepathic link between dog and their owners. Despite scientific and anecdotal evidence, many scientists remain skeptical of these capabilities. Researchers hope to overcome this skepticism with their new findings. Joni Johnston |
